~ How to Prepare for a Maternity Session ~
Pregnancy is one of the most amazing (and beautiful) times in a woman’s life. Most mamas that invest in maternity photography want to capture the uniqueness of these fleeting moments and preserve them indefinitely. However with an ever growing belly and a due date fast approaching, many women ask us how they can best prepare for their maternity session so that they will love and cherish their images for years to come….. Below are 3 tips you should know in order to have a beautiful and fun Maternity Photo Session.
1.) STYLE YOUR SHOOT:
Look over the photographer’s maternity portfolio and note images that you like or would like to try and re-create if possible. Soft muted clothing colors with little to no patterns capture best in camera and allow for a clean and timeless look. We send a questionnaire to our clients that asks a few questions in regards to your hopes and completing this helps us to understand your needs. If you are looking for a specific outfit or dress I often recommend stores such as www.pinkblushmaternity.com or www.mamabumprental.com which allow you to rent a dress. if your partner and/or other siblings are in the shoot, be sure that your clothing coordinates and feels cohesive.
2.) PAMPER YOURSELF
Get yourself pampered. Enjoy it while you can and this is the perfect reason for it. Get your nails and toes ready for the shoot. Fix your hair nicely (soft flowing waves are always a favorite) and if you want to splurge, get your makeup done as well. Taking a few extra moments to spend time on yourself will help you feel your best at the session and help to ensure you love the images we take.
3.) DON’T STRESS AND HAVE FUN!
Last but not least, DON’T STRESS and HAVE FUN. The more fun and happiness the client exudes during the session, the better images we capture. Even if you feel awkward being in front of the camera, just smile, relax and go with the flow. Laughing and playfulness capture beautifully in images and our photographer is very experienced at helping mamas feel at ease while shooting.
